Community Etiquette & Respect

Rule 1: Be Mature & Respectful (18+)

"Treat people as you wish to be treated, with respect and integrity."

Rule 2: Zero Tolerance For Any Discrimination

"Everyone should be treated equally, no matter who they are."

Rule 3: Keep Chat Clean & Constructive

"To keep an orderly chat."

• Don't be a jerk.

• No Discrimination

  • Based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability.

• No Hate Speech

  • Verbal abuse, usage of slurs, hate symbols, subtle/coded hate speech.

• No Severe Harassment

  • Including sexual, racial, psychological & online harassment.

• No spamming.

• Avoid Excessive Profanity.

• No NSFW Content.

Rule 4: No Impersonations

"Respect your fellow players identity."

Rule 5: Limited Advertising & Self-Promotion

"We're here to play Minecraft, not to see adverts."

• Do not pretend to be another player.

• Do not pose as Staff / minister.

• Do not advertise other Minecraft or Discord servers, any social media or any other external services.

• Please ask a member of Staff for permission to advertise first.

Gameplay Integrity & Fairness

Rule 6: No Griefing or Stealing

"As a player you should be respectful of other players belongings."

Rule 7: No Cheating, Hacking, or Exploiting

"Use of a modified version of the game or game-breaking exploits, that gives you an unfair advantage over other players."

Rule 8: Permitted Client Modifications

"We use Mods, we expect you might too!"

• Griefing is defined as any intentional damage/altering of someone else's property.

• Stealing is defined as the acquisition / use of a player's property without the permission from said player.

  • e.g Taking diamonds from a chest, using a player's villagers without explicit consent.

• Anything player-made is protected under this rule.

• No Hacks of any kind. (This includes Movement, Combat, Detection, Inventory/Item & Chat Hacks, Reach, X-Ray, Easy place, etc.)

• Abusing game-breaking exploits or bugs is not allowed. If you find one, report it immediately (see Rule 15), failure to do so may result in punishment.

• No Duplication. Exceptions are made for Sand, Gravel and TNT Entity Duplication.

• Most mods are fine to use, confused if your mods are okay?

  • All the mods included in the Oakay Essentials are allowed. Similar mods are also permitted.

Building, Environment & Server Performance

Rule 9: Building, Zoning & Proximity Guidelines

Rule 10: Spawn Building & Zoning Guidelines

"Rules to keep order in our growing community."

Rule 11: Server Performance & Lag

"To keep an orderly chat."

• Do not build structures within 500 blocks of 0,0 on any Oakay Server.

• When building a structure, we expect you to ask anyone near you if it's okay to build close by or to keep from at least 200 blocks from them.

• Builds should not show offensive/obscene imagery.

• Spawn is set up into 5 Zones, to learn more go to ⁠zoning-guidelines on the Oakay Servers Discord.

• Builds at spawn must follow some rules as to not cause upset:

  • Must be a reasonable size, there is no hard limit but please ask before building a large structure.

  • When building above or below someone else, you should ask the player before building.

  • Please respect the land, make sure your build is properly lit and the land around it isn't destroyed.

  • No troll builds, e.g. lava casts and other structures designed to be ugly on purpose, subject to opinion but Staff have final say. Your build may be taken down for 1 or more reasons stated above.

• No spamming.

• Avoid Excessive Profanity.

• No NSFW Content.

Rule 12: World & Environmental Care

• Do not pretend to be another player.

• Do not pose as Staff / minister.

Player Interactions

Rule 13: Player vs. Player (PvP) & Combat

"Fair fights and clear consent make for good sport."

Rule 8: Permitted Client Modifications

"We use Mods, we expect you might too!"

• All involved players must explicitly agree to PvP before any hostile actions begin.

  • Consent can be given in text chat (preferred for records) or voice chat.

  • Do not attack, trap, or kill players who have not clearly consented to PvP.

• Looting: If no loot rules are agreed upon before combat, looting a defeated player's items is prohibited and considered stealing.

• Damages & Location: PvP must not damage any player's structures or public server builds. Participants must repair any accidental damage to the natural environment. If PvP in a public area is disruptive, and an uninvolved player or Staff Member requests you to move, you must comply.

• Traps in Consensual PvP:

  • Traps may only be used in PvP if all participants explicitly consent beforehand.

  • Player-made traps outside of such agreed PvP are not allowed.

  • PvP traps must not damage unrelated builds and are completely prohibited within 500 blocks of spawn (0,0).

  • Builders must remove PvP traps immediately after the engagement.

• Respect all specific rules for any designated Shopping District (details in ⁠zoning-guidelines on the Oakay Servers Discord).

• Scamming is prohibited and treated as theft (a Major Offense).

  • This includes misrepresenting items/services, bait-and-switch tactics, or failing to complete your part of an agreed transaction.

  • This applies to items, in-game currency, and player-rendered services.

• No Real-World Trading (RWT): Selling or buying any in-game assets (items, currency, services, etc.) for real-world money or other out-of-game currencies/items is strictly prohibited and is a Major Offense.

• Report trade disputes to Staff Members with evidence.

Gameplay Integrity & Fairness

Rule 15: Reporting Issues, Bugs & Player Conduct

Rule 16: Voice Chat Etiquette (In-game & Discord)

"Clear communication makes for a better experience for everyone."

Rule 17: Recording & Streaming Policy

"Share your adventures, but respect everyone's privacy and choices."

• If you find a game-breaking exploit, severe security vulnerability, or critical bug, report it privately and directly to a Staff Member immediately.

  • Do not share, demonstrate, or publicize such issues with other players.

  • Abusing exploits or bugs before reporting is a serious offense (see Rule 7).

• If you are having technical issues or experiencing a minor bug report to the ⁠assistance channel or DM a Staff Member.

• Report players violating rules by DMing a Staff Member with clear evidence (screenshots, videos).

  • Do not make public accusations.

• Intentionally submitting false or malicious reports, or faking evidence, is considered harassment and will be penalized.

• Keep information about ongoing investigations or reports confidential.

• Do not interfere with Staff investigations.

• Avoid screaming, excessive background noise, or intentionally disrupting conversations.

• Soundboards: Permitted if not spammed, not excessively loud, and not used for offensive/harassing content.

• Push-To-Talk: If you have significant background noise, we ask you use push-to-talk or a toggle when using voice chat.

• Language: Casual swearing is permissible, but avoid excessive profanity.

• Everything in voice chat is subject to Section 1 of the rules.

• Players are welcome to record/stream, but must follow these guidelines if the recordings or streams leave the Discord community:

  • Must give disclosure to other players, in-game, and in any voice chats.

  • If a player does not wish to be recorded, you must attempt to censor anything with them in it including: their voice, chat messages and the player visually if they are in a centre of attention.

• Flexibility with Consent: The above are defaults. Individual explicit consent can alter these for that person.

• No Misuse/Blackmail: Using recordings for blackmail, harassment, shaming, etc., is a Major Offense.

• Content Conduct: Your created content (commentary, etc.) must follow all Oakay Servers rules.

• Advertising: Promoting your content requires prior Staff permission (see Rule 5).

Rule 18: Staff Interaction

"Our Staff are here to help; please treat them with respect."

• Do not repeatedly ask Staff for ranks, items, or special advantages.,

• Do not argue with Staff in public chat about any decisions made by them.

  • Discuss disagreements privately and respectfully with that Staff Member.

  • If unresolved, you may request to escalate to a more senior Staff Member.

• For formal disciplinary actions, use the appeal process (see Rule 19).

• Staff will be clearly identifiable. Do not impersonate Staff (see Rule 4).

• All interactions with Staff must be honest and respectful. Attempts to mislead, waste Staff time, or abuse contact systems will have consequences (see Rule 15).

Rule 20: Rule Updates & Amendments

• All rule violations on the Oakay Servers will be addressed according to the detailed Oakay Strike & Ban System

  • A ban appeal process is also detailed in the Strike & Ban System.

  • See ⁠Strike & Ban Policy.

• The "secret word" to show you've read these rules is Oak Sapling.

• This system is mandatory reading. Ignorance of rules or the Strike & Ban System is not an excuse.

• Major changes will be announced in the ⁠announcements channel on the Oakay Servers Discord.

• Any new rule change cannot be used against a player who may have commited a violation of said rule before it's announcement.

• It is each player's responsibility to stay informed of current rules.

• Continued play on any of the Oakay Servers after rule updates signifies your acceptance.
